Upline SEO + AI · WordPress plugin for block themes

SEO that knows whether the AI engines mention you. One payment, not a yearly bill.

Everything a shop or small business site needs to rank, plus a tracker that asks ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini the questions your customers ask and tells you who gets cited. It runs on your own AI key, so there’s nothing to rent.

Why another SEO plugin

The big ones charge rent, nag you, and don’t know what ChatGPT says about you.

SEO plugins have become subscription products with a free tier that exists to upsell you. The renewal goes up, the dashboard fills with ads, and the one question that matters in 2026, “do the AI engines send people to me?”, costs hundreds a year extra.

The yearly bill

Premium SEO plugins run $49 to $119 a year per site, renewing higher. AI visibility tracking from the biggest name is $358.80 a year on top.

The nag

Dashboard widgets, admin-bar badges, upgrade notices on every screen. You installed a tool and got a billboard.

The blind spot

Search is no longer only Google. If a customer asks ChatGPT “best bike shop in Carbondale,” you either show up in the answer or you don’t, and nothing tells you which.

Pro · AI visibility

Ask the AI engines what your customers ask. See who they recommend.

Save the questions people actually type (“bike shop near Aspen,” “where to get skis tuned in Basalt”). The plugin runs them through ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini every week with web search on, and logs whether your site is cited, where you rank in the answer, and which competitors are winning.

  1. Save your prompts. Five to fifty buyer-style questions. The plugin suggests starters from your keyphrases and business details.
  2. Pick your engines. Any AI key you’ve added to WordPress. You pay the provider pennies per run; we never see it.
  3. Run weekly, or now. Token cost is shown before every run and you set a monthly cap.
  4. Read the report. Citation share per engine over time, competitors per prompt, and the pages to improve, each linked to the fix.

The biggest SEO plugin sells this for $358.80 a year. Here it’s in Pro, on your own key.

Site Editor native

Set SEO where you build the site, not in a separate app.

Most SEO plugins were built for the classic editor and page builders, then patched for blocks. This one started with the Site Editor and never looked back.

Defaults per template

Title pattern, index rules, and schema type follow the template and template part, set right in the Site Editor.

Blocks that match your theme

Breadcrumbs, business info, opening hours, FAQ, author bio. They inherit theme.json, so they look like your site with no custom CSS.

Schema baked into patterns (Pro)

Drop in an FAQ, Event, Service area, or Product spotlight pattern and the structured data comes with it.

Editions

Free is a complete SEO plugin. Pro is for stores, local businesses, and agencies.

Nothing in Free is capped, locked, or a trial. It’s the whole thing for one site.

Pro is a separate add-on that extends the free plugin. Deactivate Pro and Free keeps working with every setting intact.

AI crawlers

Stay citable. Opt out of training. Pick it in one click.

AI bots do three different jobs: training models, indexing for search, and fetching a page because a user asked. Blocking the wrong one is the most common mistake on the web. The plugin groups bots by job, not by company, and ships four presets.

Allow all

Maximum AI visibility.

Block training, allow search (default)

Keeps you citable in ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, and Google while opting out of model training.

Block all AI

For paywalled or protected content. Googlebot and Bingbot stay on, with a warning about what you’d lose.

Custom

A per-bot toggle table, with a tester: enter a URL and a bot, see allowed or blocked and the line that decided it.

The bot list is a versioned file, updated between releases as new crawlers appear. And the page says plainly what robots.txt can and can’t do.

Your key

The AI features run on the key you already have.

WordPress now stores your Anthropic, Google, or OpenAI key once, in Settings → Connectors, and any plugin can use it. This one does. No token packs, no “AI credits,” no bill from us.

Explicit opt-in

Nothing is sent anywhere until you turn AI on and pick a provider per task.

Any provider

Anthropic, Google, OpenAI, or an OpenAI-compatible endpoint: Mistral, Groq, OpenRouter, or a model running on your own server.

We never see it

Prompts and answers go from your site to your provider. We count calls; we don’t store content.

The pledge

No ads in your dashboard. A published performance benchmark.

You’ll see Pro mentioned on the plugin’s own settings pages and nowhere else. No widgets, no admin-bar badges, no site-wide notices.

Measured on every release

Front-end queries added, bytes added, admin load time, published and compared against the other major SEO plugins.

Open source, visibly

The free plugin lives on a public GitHub repo. The AI bot list is an open JSON file.

Agent-ready

Every core action is exposed through the WordPress Abilities API, so Claude or any MCP client can audit and fix SEO on your site with your permission.

Questions

Is the free version really complete?

Yes. WordPress.org doesn’t allow trialware and neither do we. Free has no caps, no locked features, no license check. Pro is a separate add-on.

Who pays for the AI calls?

You, to your provider, at their rates. Most sites spend a few cents a month. The plugin shows the estimated cost before every AI visibility run and lets you set a cap.

Can I switch from Yoast, Rank Math, or AIOSEO?

Yes. The importer brings over titles, descriptions, redirects, and schema settings.

Will it slow my site down?

The front end adds no database queries beyond cached meta. We publish the numbers on every release.

Does it work with classic themes?

No. It’s built for block themes only, on purpose. If you’re on a classic theme, the big plugins serve you better.

What does “updates for the current major version” mean?

Every 1.x update is free forever. If we ship a 2.0, it’s a new release, and 1.x owners get it at half price. We’ll never raise your price quietly at renewal because there is no renewal.

Do I need an Upline account?

No. Pro needs a license key for updates; that’s it.

I run a bike shop on Upline Base. What do I do?

Nothing. Pro and the Bike Shop pack are included and already connected to your inventory.

Refunds?

14 days, no questions asked.
